Flawless on a Budget: Drugstore Makeup 101

You don’t have to spend a million bucks on brand name cosmetics anymore! Drugstore products have stepped their game up big time! Most notably brands begun expanding their color ranges, to accommodate W.O.C. I’m obsessed with drugstore products, the only downfall comes when trying to color match yourself. Usually there aren’t testers in drugstores, so most times your forced to guess or buy two different foundations/concealers to find your perfect match. Don’t let that scare you off though, because I have created a simple list for you that is kind to your pockets!

  1. Foundation (a good base = a good face)
  • Covergirl (Queen Collection) outlast 3-1 foundation
  • Maybelline Fit Me (now offered in a Matte formula)

I couldn’t choose between these two. They both are both really good foundations with a good color range, easy to apply, long lasting, and great in photos. Both offer a very natural looking finish.

2. Concealer (think of this as one big eraser; hiding acne, dark marks, hyper pigmentation, or bags under eyes)

  • LA Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer

I’ve seen the internet streets compare this bad boy to MakeupForever’s HD Concealer. For only $2.99 you can’t go wrong! The concealer does it’s job (hides imperfections) and looks great in pictures!

  1. Powder (ready SET go…)
  • Maybelline Fit Me

I love this powder to set my entire face. Yes even the highlighted areas; when I’m going for a natural look, I stick with one powder. If I’m trying to achieve a more glam look, I set with my Ben Nye Banana powder.

  1. Blush (waken your skin)
  • NYX Cosmetics

If you’re not looking to spend $20 on a blush, give NYX blushes a try. For $6 bucks, you can’t go wrong.

  1. Mascara (who doesn’t like flirty eyes?)
  • Covergirl Lashblast (orange tube)

When it comes to Mascara, keep it simple. Mascara is the one beauty product that you will want to dispose of frequently. No need to spend big money continuously. I like to stick to the tried and true formula of Covergirl’s lash blast. Feel free to experiment with different brands and different formulations. Some mascaras thicken, while others lengthen; look at your lashes and determine what boost you may need.

  1. Lipstick (pucker up)
  • Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick

I could go on and on about these bad boys. But all I have to say is, I can’t remember the last time I bought a MAC lipstick. They have taken over my life and every time a new color collection is launched, I get my life!

Total Cost = under $50
